DMV Registration Fees
So I am finally getting my bike after passing my MSF course. Will be getting a 2003 CBR600RR in the next 2 weeks. Looking foward to riding with some of you guys after I get some riding experience by myself. Anyway.. back to the subject of this post. Does anyone know the fees for transferring a title and new plates and registration? A general ballpark answer would help alot. The freaking DMV website tells me nothing. Thanks for the help!

Well i currently have my car registered in Florida. And the bike that is getting transfered to me is currently registered in Florida. So im guessing that means $41.15! Thanks Jamie

I just had a tag transfered and title registered on my R1 last year and it was almost $80. Would be more without a tag. I know the $225 first time registration applies to cars but not sure about the bikes. Also keep your titles in a safe place, I never use to worry about not finding them, you could always go get a fast title right then for $15, NOW a replacement title is $87.50.

Don't forget you'll also have to pay the sales tax on whatever your purchase price is.

a typical deal from my lot runs my customer 155.00 or 380.00
155.00 covers 3 out of their 4 fees........the forth is the reg. of a new tag fee which IS 225.00. It must be your tag you transfer and it DOESN'T MATTER if it was already titled in Florida. In the case of a car if you don't currently have your tag to transfer then that's 225.00 extra on top of the rest........not sure about a bike.

Yep. 7% on the sale price.
If you are buying from a private seller you might ask them to write a bill of sale for a lower amount.
IE, if you buy it for $4,000 ask them if they will do a bill of sale for $500.
You'll pay $35 in sales tax -vs- $280
But if you buy from a dealer they will have to collect sales tax at time of purchase.
