I try to stay away from Ybor during normal weekends and week nights. Definitely won't catch me down there for another Guavaween. People puking, pissing, fighting everywhere.

I HIGHLY recommend that you get into a club/bar and on their balcony. Being on the street SUCKS because it's so crowded. You can hardly move and one year the crowd was so thick it actually pulled me off my feet. Being on the balcony lets you relax with some room and allow you to actually get to the bar for a refill.

Back in the day when it was wild and I was young it was fun.

Go and have fun but when the sun goes down you best be heading home.
Ybor is a cesspool after Dark on Guavaween it's nothing but Gangs and Drunks. The good news is, 90% of the chicks get naked and act like Sluts Bad news is Guavaween is like 85% guys looking for Drunken Sluts.

Guavaween was never the "family" fun that ybor bills is as. In the day time when the bands are playing and the Sun is out it's really not bad and quite fun. but once that sun goes down and the bands stop playing it gets really rough on the streets.

Word to the wise. Wear your thick skin if you go. otherwise be prepared to get you knuckles bloody...

I never did understand the Marketing Monkees and their idea that Ybor could EVER be connected with "Family Fun". Unless you were on Jerry Springer once.

And ya, I agree with everything you wrote here. Ybor City is a mess. Period.

Best thing in Ybor is the brew pub Tampa Bay Brewing Co. Great food and hand made beer. But like you said, after dark the punks come out.

Last Guavaween I went to there was gangs sticking people with Needles randomly....

and I seen a guy standing on a light pole. he had a 3 foot dilldo sticking out of his pants and his buddies were shoving it in every girls face that passed by.

On Halloween in Baltimore the look for an area called Fells Point is along the same lines as Ybor sept there's no balconies and no gangs! The pumps basically get over run by party folfs and 60% of the crowd just dresses up, but everybody gets drunk and acts loud and dumb. You have to stay on your toes to a degree but it's a fun night overall..........very very little bullshit!

Weird because Baltimore has been one of the top 5 cities for murder of a long time. You would think it would be worse.

If you've never been to Guavaween then I would recommend checking it out and making your own decision. Everything everyone said is pretty much true, but it's definitely a party. If you go there with the right crowd and get there early enough to get a balcony spot then it's definitely tolerable if not fun. The balcony spots can cost like $20 which the gang punks won't pay for. Not sure if I'm going this year, but I would do it again.

Yeah boy.....nothing like being 11 years old and being confronted by a group wanting to know "what size is them pumas" my reply "8" their responce - heads all looking at each other - "your lucky we don't wear that size" then walking away........yes, they were the good ol'days.

I'll still go to guapoween......may look for that balcony thing. I'd rather be up there anyway peoplewatching.
