Wrong way driver hits rider head on

Thoughts and prayers go out to the riders family.

So sick of the wrong way driver issues. There isn't a place low enough or remote enough for this moron.

    PLANT CITY --
A female motorcyclist died overnight after being struck by a wrong-way driver who repeatedly ignored a Plant City police officer's command to pull over, authorities said.

The woman, identified as Claudia Alderman, 59, of Plant City, was hit head-on by a 2-door Nissan at W. Reynolds Street and and N Mobley Street around 11:44 p.m. Tuesday. She was transported to Tampa General Hospital, where she died a short time later, police said.

The wrong-way Nissan was spotted by an officer who was headed east on E. Reynolds Street, a one-way eastbound roadway in the area of N Michigan Avenue. The officer made at least two attempts to pull over the driver before the fatal crash, according to police.

Driver Osbaldo Campos, 21, was arrested and charged with two counts of failure to obey a lawful command. Additional charges are pending, police said.

Horrible. Dumb ass probably can't read in American or understand it when spoken, but he can make bail all day.

What is it with this place and wrong way drivers? I've only heard of it once in my lifetime. We move to Tampa and it seems to be a regular occurrence. I had a close call on the bike with a wrong way driver last fall.

    Condolences to the family. RIP

I saw this story yesterday. This is sad

Also Bry, we never used to have issues with wrong way drivers... This increase has been really recent and seemingly coincidental from drunk drivers making mistakes. This one though was just some ass trying to get away from the cops...

Can you believe this the ahole is out of jail already.

PLANT CITY (FOX 13) - Pictures taken by Plant City Police show a two-door Nissan with the front practically sliced in half.

The motorcycle's front wheel was barely hanging on.

"The laws of physics don't bode well for folks on motorcycles when they are going in the same direction," said Sgt. Alfred Van Duyne of the Plant City Police Department. "Let alone in a head-on situation."

Plant City Police confirmed the victim as Claudia Alderman, 59, of Plant City, who they say worked as a realtor.

"She was just an ordinary driver," said Van Duyne. "It could have been you or me."

They arrested Osbaldo Campos, 21, of Dover.

"He traveled approximately one mile from when he was first observed to where the accident took place," said Van Duyne.

After an officer saw Campos going the wrong way on Reynolds St., he tried twice to get Campos to pull over, at one point even pulling up alongside him.

More than 12 hours later, wreckage was still strewn around the intersection of Baker and Mobley streets, where Campos' two-minute long wild ride ended.

"The officer did everything that he could within our policy to try to stop this vehicle," said Van Duyne.

No one was at Campos' house when Fox 13 knocked.

Police have charged him only with disobeying an officer, though they expect to file more charges once their investigation reveals more about why Claudia Alderman is dead.

"The Plant City Police Department will do what's best to get the proper resolve for this case," said Van Duyne.

Campos was released from jail Tuesday night.

One of Alderman's family members said they were too distraught to speak.

Unbelievable. No wait; it IS unbelievable since it seems if you kill a motorcyclist is less severe than if you didn't. I wonder what kind of penalties this scumbag will face compared to our buddy Mosh who was just speeding. Let's watch this closely...

They released him, then later charged with manslaughter, arrested him again and he bonded out, AGAIN. Unreal.

Up to THIS point our buddy Mosh was more harshly punished for speeding. Galactic levels of fucked-up-ness.

This is a messed up situation. Figure out why she is dead? That's a tough one. An asshat that wouldn't stop for the police killed her.

RIP Claudia. She rode with KT's group and went to the track with them. Rode on the ride to the AIM show as well. So sad.
