PINELLAS COUNTY, FL (WFLA) - Two scooter drivers are dead in two separate crashes in Pinellas County. They happened just about two hours and 23 miles apart.

Both scooter drivers died after drivers turned left, either in front of or right into them.

The first accident happened Thursday at 8:05 p.m in St. Petersburg.

Eric Kalnasky, 38, was driving his motor scooter north on 16th Street when Nicole Klumpp turned left onto 18th Avenue North right into the scooter.

Paramedics rushed Kalnasky to Bayfront Health, where he died about a half hour later.

The second accident happened in Dunedin at 10:13 p.m. Pinellas investigators say Susan Stone, 21, was killed as she drove south on Alternate 19.

Taylor Roppolo, 24, was heading north in his Jeep, when he attempted to turn left onto Orange Street. Stone was ejected from her scooter and died at the scene.

Investigators don't think alcohol or drugs played a role in either crash. There's no word yet if Klumpp or Roppolo will face charges.
