So you want to get a sportbike?

Stole this from cbr600.net, thought it was informative for anyone looking for their first bike. Sorry if it's a repost.

Sorry, didn't realize how big the pic was. I had my "show images" turned off.

    Fixed.

Good read, but I disagree with his generalization stating that: "Going fast in a straight line takes no skill. . ."
Nothing can be further than the truth.
If you don't agree, try talking with the "Over 200 mph" riders, they'll explain it better than me,
because not only does it take a lot of skill, it also takes a lot of balls.

best part " i know people who started on x bike and survived"

well i know people on x bike who didnt.

for me the biggest point i try to tell folk looking to get in to riding. its not about being able to "ride/operate"a bike. Its about having a good skill set and knowledge. Overcoming the panic when things go wrong, "seeing" things before they happen ie hey the car ahead swerved out of the lane maybe there is debris there.

But like he/she said there are alot just looking for what they want to hear... good find

Everyones a Ph.D when it comes to riding, they can tell u what tires to get, what oil to use and what gear 2 buy yet these "Docs usually base their expertise on some1 else's opinion not their own experience...

Was this written by the Kawasaki Ninja 250 marketing dept? Maybe everyone should be forced to ride a moped first then graduate to a moped with a clutch then maybe a scooter then a scooter with a clutch then a 250. Then maybe you could have the skill to ride a 500cc bike?
