    Hand Signals

If you ever wondered on a group ride how you could communicate:

And of course if there be Po Po in the area, tap yo head!

remember when you were a kid and you would "pull your fist down" for the truckers to honk? that's what we use for a crazy cager nearby.

I would hit the hight beams if I saw you 'tap yo head'
Words, when put together well in conversation with
oneself or with another, can unlock a vision of some
ideal form. They need not; one person cannot make
another see. He can only provide the stimulation that
helps the other to see for himself.

    ?

How fast are your group rides?

Moke, don't people take their hands off the controls on the track to signify slowing down?

    Same principles.

I'm sure that if your haning a wheely down SR 52, your not pointing at your gas tank while you do it.

Or if you going 120+ through a monster sweeper that you would tap your helmet.....thats the best reason for "slow in the straights", "quick in the corners".......

    You funny guy!

i have only been on other peoples group rides twice didnt like it very unorganized and dangerous! for greene22

yes people do take their hands off at the track to slow. but your already off the race line and besides that most people on the track have a bigger understanding of 1. how to ride and 2.how to ride in that envoirnment.
deff. NOT the same principle!!!(as you will soon see) cant wait!
    for misano

yes seen the pic, got one of myself like that learned the trick from an old friend in 1992.he had one of him dragging his hand at laguna behind freddy spencer. for lq!

For what it's worth I don't really like the group rides either, for your same reasons. But there's nothing wrong with a few hand signals now and then. And when I ride alone my left hand isn't always on the grip. Like Steve said, you don't signal while in a sweeper or up on 1 wheel...

I was going to start a new thread, but this one's close enough...

I was pleased to see last week a few cars signalling with their headlights that a speedtrap was up ahead... seems like no one is that courteous/observant anymore.

Is there a standard sign for "cops ahead?" I use the whirlybird, one finger circling in the air, but I don't always know if that's understood.

I dunno about for cagers... but for biker's the common sign is usually patting the top(center) of your helmet with your fingers (open hand)

Yeah, I dug real deep (that's the problem with stickies!) I've never seen the head-tap. If that's what "we're" doing, then I'll have to get on board.

For me it's always been high-beam flash in cages. It's common as far up as Maine, and I saw two cars doing it on the CC Causeway last week for a mounted smoky with a fancy new radar gun.
