Anyone have experience with Bar code scanning systems?

The company I work for is looking to purchase a system but I'm not sure what an entire system is comprised of. If you have first hand knowledge of what's required please give me some pointers. I'm in the research phase now.

Are you needing to print bar codes, read bar codes or what? In other words what do you need to do?

I use to train how to use them at a previous job...

They consist of the handheld portion, which is the reader, and a reciever that syncs with your POS/inventory system.

Very simple for what they cost, the big pain in the ass will be putting all your inventory into the system so the readers will read them... a ton of setup.
