    N.C. trip

Just got back from a short trip to North Carolina. Hauled the bike in the truck and glad I did. My original plan was to trailer but that would have killed my mileage. Around town a generally get 14mpg, on the trip I averaged 18mpg and was very happy with that. Spent two days on the Blue Ridge pkwy but did not go as far as the gap. Did see some great roads and some waterfalls. heres a couple pics.

about 1 in 20 bikes on the road were sport bikes. I was the only Zuki, 2 BMW k1200's, a 675 from deerfield bch, and a duc from Iowa who had crap bungeed all over his bike (camping gear etc.) on a 7 day round trip ride. very cool.

very nice time. Tried to hook up with Steve up there but he was swamped. My wife has a friend up there she wanted to spend evenings/dinner time with so we rode late morning til mid day. my one regret is pre booking into the hotel (internet deal no refund) and being stuck in one spot. next time I go I will stay in SC ride a day, load up and go north ride more etc. Also riding 2up is a bit more strenuous (spl chk) really got wore out going up and down those twisties, esp on 274? its about 40 hairpins for 5miles down Mt Pisqua to the waterfall. going up was better. my only concern was that i was running on fumes. I stressed about my trip odometer pushed it 20 miles past my normal empty point and ended up filling it w/3 gallons. my mileage must have been alot better than on flat land. also rode in 3rd between 40-60mph most of the time. assumed my consumption would be higher.

nice pics, how has 100,001 miles on their bike, or is that your zook?

I've been up here 2 months and have done over 6000 miles so far. I lost this week to meetings at BMW in SC

Just saw that comment, man I hate I missed you. I was swamped and out of town for meetings this week. There's a group coming up at the end of the month and I hope you make it back! I'll be up here till sometime around end of October
