    SunPass Mini(adhesive windshield sticker)

    Here's the deal:

$4.99 at your local grocery store, as thin as a credit card and must be applied to your windshield.

I'm not too comfortable leaving a, what could be, removable sticker on my bike windshield because anyone can take it. The instructions say that it will only work when applied to the windshield... Does TSB think it would work if applied to top of helmet? It's one of those reverse-adhesives, so a piece of tape will have to hold it on...ghetto, but effective.

    Your thoughts?

As I understand it it is designed to brake if you try to remove it.
So it should be safe on a bike

Fair enough. I was thinking that if you apply it to a low spot on the windshield it wouldn't be too noticable. I'll be picking one of these up shortly.

I plan on getting one and trying a couple locations with tape and see what works before sticking it for good. I didn't know the adhesive was on the front though, that could mess me up, I don't have a clear windshield on the bike.

    You could always try velcro

I've heard of these things, but I probably won't get one because I'm bitter about spending $20 on the window brick. Why couldn't you affix the sticky side to your helmet? I wouldn't imagine it would make much difference. It's probably (?) not omnidirectional.

The windshield is supposed to act as an antenna. Therefore it may not work on a helmet and shouldn't matter if the windshield is tinted. Though the smaller windshield of a bike may hinder its effectiveness.

But the windshields on cars are glass and the windshields on bikes are plastic..not sure if they would work the same????

Another excellent point as to why it may not work at all.

I've never had a sunpass with me on the bike. my bike tag is registered and it gets charged just as if I forgot the sunpass in the car. or maybe I just haven't gotten a ticket in years because its too small, I dunno

I have had my photoshoot done by the local toll booths. The tag is not too small.

Well, it doesn't specifically say "will not work with motorcycles" so I think it will be ok. If it doesn't work, they can run my tag and see that I have a valid account and what-not. I was more worried about someone jacking my sticker!

I personally wouldn't expect them to test it with motorcycles. Not sure about you, but I don't think most car parts say "will not work with motorcycles>"

I picked it up but havent installed it yet. It seems as if the transponder is to be applied to inside the windshield...but it doesn't specify. Note: The adhesive is on the REAR, not reversed as said before.

You can't use glass (or plastic) to "make" an antenna. Additionally, antennas have to be created to a specific length for the wavelength they are receiving/transmitting.

I would suppose the statements made in the SunPass documentation, are to prevent users from mounting the RFID tag to surfaces that would interfere with reading of the tag (ex: mounting it under the hood of your car).

Just repeating what the brochure said.
