    My Black Box

I like my Icon helmet and it’s really comfortable to wear. I picked mine up at PA’s for a great price.
I added a chatter box for when I do a group ride or when I’m riding with a friend. The only thing I don't like about the chatter box is the mount.
I had to JB weld the chatter box mount to the helmet because it kept sliding off. Now it’s never coming out. Other then that I love it.

I also added a camcorder to the helmet. I call it the black box because if I should ever go down you’ll know what happened and who was at fault. Also, if a Leo tries to pull some weird $hit or lies I’ll have him on tape to back my store up. It’s also good for capturing any other accidents or maybe some UFO sightings.

I grinded the camera mount to fit the side of the helmet. I then sanded the helmet where I was going to mount the camera. Then I JB welded the mount to the helmet so it’s not going anywhere. The camera slides in and out of the mount so I can take it off whenever I please. The camera takes a 2 gig SD card and you can plug it into your laptop or TV to view what you recorded. It also takes 2 AA batteries which is nice because you can use the rechargeable ones so you don’t have to buy batteries all the time.
It’s also water proof for those rainy cold nights.
The vid isn’t the best quality but it does the job.
I bought the camera at Sharper Image or Brook Stone….. I can’t remember which one.
    I think it was around $130.00 - $160.00 I don’t remember the price either.

For what it’s worth I’m sure I’ll get my money out of it…….. plus, I look like a cool robot now or it looks like the gun from the monster in the movie Predator.

I think all bikes should be equipped with some sort of recording device. Maybe one day it will be a stander feature.

I like that camera idea, its actually the best protection you can have in a crash. evidence to PROVE who was at fault once and for all.

The truth is, you should consider yourself lucky if you even occasionally get to make someone - anyone - feel a little better. that's got some bling appeal man. are you thinking about a safety tether for the camera too ? Just thinking about all the temperature changes the JBWeld will have to put up with.

I like it. Just don't make him mad or cut him off... it does shoot lasers, I've seen him do it.

As for the JB Weld, after all the wind abuse that thing is gonna take the JB weld may not hold up as good as expected. I agree with ohgood if you have a safety tether then you won't have to worry about it. Even just a small cable that attaches to the metal part of the chinstrap would work, that or some Heavy lb fishing line which would be clear and harder to see.

  19. what happens if you go down and that catches the grass or a curb or the side of a car, even as slow as 10 mph?
    What was the weight increase?
    How is the wind drag?
    Noise?

I'd love to do something similar--the camera, does it fill up the SD card & stop, or does it just keep rolling & delete the oldest data? (FIFO, or LIFO?) Where'd you get it?

I'm a JB Weld junkie too... anything that's used to fill engine block cracks should be able to handle your typical Florida temperature swings
