Ummmm no he won't be using any of my bikes for the track thank you very much. LOL j/k.
Well i just figured this one was probably lighter than the 650. It does have the same seat height. But i need to check the weight. Being I havn't been riding toooo long i think the 650 will still be too much bike for me.

Without sounding rude LittleNinja, if you think the 650 might still be too much bike for you, then why think about getting the 500? I mean I know the 500 isnt as powerful as the 650 and not being a V-twin, it won't have the torque, but it is still a bigger bike than you are currently riding.......
Personally I would get more comfy with what you have then just move up to a 600cc or the 650..... my .02

That's what i was thinking. /\ /\ /\ /\
i'm not planning on doing this next week or anything, like i said within the next few months meaning 4-6 months. I will have a little more experience under my belt and thought the 500 would be just right for me. I actually won't be able to get it until the hubby says i'm ready. I could be wrong though, i've been know to do that. :D

Personally if and when the time comes and you think you are ready for the 500, You might be ready for the 650.... Have enough experience, seat time, and comfort to handle the 650... that doesn't mean that you will out tearing up the streets right away, you will have to learn a new bike again, just like you would the 500....
I don't know............... That is what I did, I went from my F3 600 to my CBR 929, and then to the ZX-10... and had to be gentle with each one and learn the bike. Shit, I have had the 10 for almost a year and I am still learning the bike....

I undersand and am glad for your input. It helps. But i see you have had 3 bikes, different cc's. So why can't I go from the 250 to the 500 to the 650 later on down the road?

Ya need to just stay home and cook some dinner...maybe wash some clothes and do some ironing. I'm sure Hector gets hungry and would like a good home cooked meal.........doesn't the grass need to be cut, ya ain't gonna tell me the damned grass doesn't grow down thar!

There is absolutly no reason why you can't do that.... Remember this is YOUR decision, not mine or anyone elses.... You do what ever you feel comfortable with...
I was thinking of the $$ factor.... each bike I owned a lost a litte money on, no biggie for me, but it happens.... Part of my opinion was based on, why throw another bike in there when there isn't a huge difference btwn the two. It's not like going from a 600 to a 1000..
Some articles... If I understand correctly, the RWHP for the SV 650 is in the mid 60's
http://www.thundertoys.com/cool_customs/archives/suzuki-sv650/
From what I can see the GS500F is about 47 RWHP
http://www.suzukicycles.org/GS-series/GS500F.shtml
And your current bike.
The Ninja's engine is a vertical in-line twin, displacing 248cc. Kawasaki claims it puts out around 33 HP, and most dyno testing seems to reveal 23-28 HP at the rear wheel. With a claimed dry weight of 304 pounds, this puts the bike's power:weight ratio at 0.082, as compared to 0.177 for the Moto Guzzi Le Mans, and 0.121 for a Porsche 911 Turbo -- larger numbers are "better"). The engine is designed with an extremely high redline, at 14,000 RPM. It is only by revving very fast that this tiny engine can produce so much power.

GS500...I've heard a lot of mixed emotions about those. Check this link out and you can read for yourself. http://www.motorcycleworld.com/enthusiasts/review_list.asp?vehiclecategory=1
Look at all the years, not just the '05. It's your decision, but once you're comfortable on the 250, go ahead and get the 600. I would have been bored with a 500 in no time.

Scott's useless 2cents. I am looking at the Ninja 650 for Tonya next year - the GS500f didn't get as good reviews as the Ninja 500 and the 650 is supposed to have a narrower seat, etc.
First though, I am on orders from the boss to payoff some bills :talktothe
