There are other Brands of Body Armor much better But, more Expensive!
There was a Article in Cycle World Comparing The Different Types Of Body Armor...I think It was the Feb. issue.
busa and myself love them
she also has the dainese sheer one and likes it
You ask us "do we think this is better then just wearing a T-Shirt and Helmet" Thats like asking someone is it better to wear shoes or just socks....
I have heard good things about the body armor. Its comfortable and it gives that extra added safe feeling. Most people I know that have these will wear it under their Jackets for the added protection. I know K-Nine does when he goes riding.
The biggest thing about the body armor is for the added spine protection thats pretty much it. and if you happen to go down it allows you to slide like a turtle on his back.

I like mine!! I just got it a few weeks ago and it has been worn on a few rides with me. Couple things to look out for--if your jacket is already snug, this thing will not fit under it comfortably, and they come in two sizes regular and x-large. I was not sure what size to get, so I went with regular. It fits good on the largest possible setting the vest allows.

AS far as protection, like Doc said it's main purpose is spine protection in case of most stunt related injuries (stoppie & wheelie loops), hence most stunter's wearing them, hence the bad rep or image.
I've personally never been a big gear fan other than my helmet, just like "Road rash chic" outta NM.
And just like RRC, I love my vest!!!!
I've personally slid down the street @ 80 before so I think the turtle aspect is also a selling point.
As far as "What people think", I grew up w/a mohawk, and a skateboard.
I stayed hated and laughed at. That's how I learned to think for myself.

I hope you checked out cahills, with our TSB discount it should be $80 + tax. Definetly a good investment if you don't want to wear a jacket in the hot summer. Its not for a compression injury to the spine, but definetly worth wearing.

I like wearing my knee / shin protectors under my jeans. I use the Icon stuff with a AS jacket/ and back protector built in

not a bad deal at all. I would wear one for sure if I had it. I'd much prefer to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
