ORMOND BEACH -- -A biker was critically injured Monday after the victim's motorcycle was hit by a car on U.S. Highway 1 in the latest Bike Week accident in Volusia County.
The unidentified biker was airlifted to Halifax Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, said EVAC ambulance spokesman Mark O'Keefe.
The crash happened at 6:27 p.m. at 1760 N. U.S. Highway 1, near Calvary Church. An off-duty firefighter from Volusia County Fire Services saw the crash and called for help.
Two people in the car that struck the motorcycle had minor injuries. One of them refused to be taken to the hospital, O'Keefe said.
Officials from the Florida Highway Patrol were still on scene at 8:15 p.m., investigating the crash. O'Keefe said the biker was not wearing a helmet during the accident, the second Bike Week crash in a 24-hour period.
