I just picked up a Joe Rocket mesh jacket ,it has a pocket for your mp3 player and special hole to run headphones through,,am I right to guess that this is still an unsafe way to listen to music, does anyone ride while listening to headphones? I need all of my senses working while im on my bike, even though it would be cool to rock out at 150mph .

I do it too, its not illegal if they aren't in your ear.
It is illegal if you do have ear buds/headphones covering your ears....just putting them in your helmet is not against the law. ; )

I listen to mine whie riding...I don't blare it to where I can't hear the traffic around me or even the sounds from my bike. It's no different then driving your car listening to music unless your one of those who blare it soo loud a person on the next block can hear you and your trunk is going to pop off from the vibration. :nono:

I might have to give it a try, I startded riding in the late 70s ,head phones wernt that small yet! My father was a NYC motorcycle cop and taught me how to ride ,was always taught to pay attention when I rode,He was a painfully by the book teacher, i guess you can still hear if its not too loud,Cool! I will try it out , thank you for all the good input.Im excited to download some good tunes and hit the road!

I listen to my music LOUD. I don't care about the traffic anymore. If they want to hit me they will. At least I will have some good music on to cover up my crying like a bitch!

I listen to headphones all the time...my helmet has so much wind noise i need earplugs anyways...the headphones just make it more enjoyable I can still hear everything going on around me and besides at speeds you cant even hear a car horn.

Don't get me wrong...I love loud music too....but these whatever's running around with their trunks rattling louder than the music crack me up. Yes I know there is a right way to hook it up I'm saying they must not be that bright over here.

i hate it, i actully have people come and ask me to "make my trunk rattle" i hate it. i have done some systems that rattle no matter what i do though, they are so powerfull
mounted my mp3 to my helmet and installed real good speakers inside
i tend to turn it on and off depending how i feel and the situation i would feel naked without it tho

I have the same jacket, put my Zune in the pocket and just wear one of the earphones in my left ear. Makes long trips more enjoyable, thats for sure.

I listen to my MP3 player while riding. I love it. I can still hear my bike and other things going on around me. For track riding I found that it helps me focus much more than w/o music.
I have in the ear style buds, and I have speakers that velcro inside the helmet. I prefer the in-the-ear ones. The others don't go up loud enough to really enjoy the music.

it is illegal to have them in your ears or covering them...i had them in my helmet so that way i am bending the law and not breaking it...

I mounted some headphones into my helmet. They are recessed a bit to allow for putting the helmet on. They don't get super loud, but I can hear it just fine, and also answer calls as well.
