i will do some more reading ... but chatterbox is set to release a blutooth unit spring of '08 .... i think with its popularity ... it might be hard to get enough people to switch until the ones using chatterbox become outnumbered ....

Nice BUT it's a two piece unit that has to attach to your gas tank and the rest goes in the helmet - for that matter I might as well stick with the ONE unit Chatterbox that I currently have!

I've done a lot of research on this topic... if you consider perusing the interweb on the company dime "research." There are a lot of ways to do this, bluetooth being preferable because it's wireless. You can do bike-to-bike on the CHEAP, though:
-get a GOOD headset & PTT button
-get a couple of GMRS radios
...this might set you back $100-$120, but you've got a pair of comms for you & your buddy, life partner, whatever. If you want to integrate music, there's another UK product out there called Intaride (http://intaride.com/ridertopillion.html). $304 gets you 2 headsets, a phone input, and a music input. Another $84 gets you bluetooth, but you're still wired to the hub. Their BT headsets are still under development... so you're probably talking over $500 total for two setups.
I'm REALLY interested in a Chatterbox that will be BT capable... but all the websites are saying "it will be release in Spring 2005" or "in October of 2006, these will be hitting the shelves."
The immediate alternative is the Motorola HS830. $70 per headset on eBay. Gives you phone, as well as bike-to-bike with another HS830 as long as you're within 30 feet.
In the next month or two, I'm going to go with a cheap wired solution, and if someone can recommend a helmet-mounted stereo headset that has performed well for them, I'm ready to rig it in to my existing setup. I dig messing around with this stuff & getting it working...

Good point but I forgot to tell you - I already talked to Chatterbox and their new model won't be out until late spring and the cost will be approx. $450.00!!
