DUDE, The council oak in the hard rock. I took my wife there and it was really good. I dont do the fancy resteraunt thing to much but that place was killer. And of course Kazoo's for sushi up by us. Not a big nice place but if she likes sushi its the place. Ruth Chris and all those steak joints down there that are all over priced

I agree, I used to work in a 4 Star restaurant, and Bern's is by far the best restaurant I ever have had dinner at. Not only is the food is excellent, but the service is 2nd to none. It is something that someone needs to experience! Desserts are served on the 2nd floor, and servers need to work the dessert room for about a year or so, before they are allowed to work the main diining room. I don't drink, but the wine room has over 10,000 bottles of wine!

I have to agree with this statement.Went there lastnight.Best stone crab claws I have ever had. They were big as hell.Best steak I have ever had prepared too.By far the best Seafood place I have ever been too.Best part is we went all out and the bill was alot lower then I expected and lower then I have paid at other lower rated places.

Been to Burn's too.Great place, but I put Salt rock wayyyy above them.

We just got back from Texas Road House on SR56 and I-75. Could cut the steak with a fork great flavor too, chili was good, Ribs fell off the bone, and I luv Cinnamon butter and fresh rolls..

Yes, I ate all that plus more...Not including the bucket of pop corn at the Avitar movie before dinner. I am such a FAT ASS

Why do you guys think Smokey Bones sucks? (I'm curious because I work there.....AND I actually love the food there - no shit - the ribs get smoked IN HOUSE for a MINIMUM of ELEVEN HOURS!)

We just got bought out, so seriously, tell me what you don't like. Maybe I can explain it, fix it, or just agree with you.

Since when? Aside from a select few restaurants San Francisco beats this area hands down in many arenas.

Oh sure. I won't argue that. San Fran is supposed to have more to offer considering their extreemly high cost of living, but there are MANY small places spread throughout Tampa Bay that have world renowned chef's. Just look at Sarasota for 1 example. You have plenty of superior places. they just don't advertise. I'm sure there are plenty of great restaurants peppered throughout Tampa Bay.

Yeah, that's the trend down here. The folks that frequent high quality spots like for them to be relatively exclusive, so they generally stay that way, from my experience. I was a private valet for many places like that in sarasota. They never advertised, but the extreemly wealthy always seemed to show up at the grand openings and private functions that I worked. There really are a bunch just in sarasota alone (Michaels on east, Bijou Cafe, etc., etc.)

i don't know what they're crying about. I could eat a SB brisket sammich every day no problem. Maybe some ribs mixed in. I have to ride by one pretty often and the smell gives me whiplash

I have been to the Smokey Bones in Citrus Park three times. Sucks might be a bit harsh but for me it was just dinner or lunch as usual, nothing special or memorable.

Tell me about it! I lived here in Fl. for 26 years without ever even hearing about the place, then I worked across the street from the one I work at now for damn near a year and still never herad of the place. I don't know why they don't advertise. The concept is great! Pork, Beef, Turkey and ribs all get smoked IN HOUSE DAILY. Shit, even the chicken gets baked fresh daily - in house!

That says a ton for a corporate chain! We used to be owned by Darden (Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Bahama Breeze) but just got bought out by Sun Capital, so we're getting a remodel on the 17th of January - '10.

Come check us out. If you come in while I'm workin' and eat at the bar with me, I'll buy you a drink.

(I currently work Thurs. Nights and all day Friday (back in school the rest of the week)).

they also grow their own vegetables, they must work in every part of the restaurant prior to serving, it takes quite a while to get to serve there.

I know this is an oldy but this place here is great. A bit of a high end mexican menue. They make the dips at your table and the seard tuna is the best.

And I'm with ya on the smokey bones its just not an upscale joint that is overpriced. Some people dont want to eat at certain places if it doesnt cost enough. The ribs are really good.

On the way out to the hurricane in pass a grill beach, once you are actually on pass a grill the first light you come up to. On the left side is a marina with a small restaurant. I forget the name, but I thought it was great! a little expensive, but great sea food. That was about 5 years ago thou.

"Mr. Empanada"?? Sounds interesting. Will have to look it up.

One of the things I've taken up recently is taking the misses out for breakfast on Sunday's. The goal has been to try the smaller (and hopefully local) joints.

Loved Lenny's for the americana type cuisine. Once we're done exploring Zypherhills for eats, we'll be probably heading to Fuel Cafe in Sarasota. Went there one day, had a coffee smoothie (it was divine) purchased a couple of shirts (real cool), but want to actually eat there.

There was a Jamacan place in Clearwater that one of our member's owns, I'd love to try it if I can remember it's name..

I understand why some people may like Chillis, but Chillis consistently dissapoints me! I've been in the restaraunt business too long to be impressed with their menu.

I'm looking for some mom and pop spots, with fresh prepped ingredients and a simple, yet good menu. I've had enough of the "canned dining" experience to last me a lifetime!
