WOW, those are some Awesome prices...

Thats pretty much what Leon sells them for at the track.

Great trackday tire.
If anyone runs Pirelli's, they will enjoy the Racetecs.

Yeah not a lot of people know Metzler is owned by Pirelli
They are both very similarly the Metzler M3 is almost the same tire as the Corsa III only $20-$30 more.

When was the last time you got pricing from him?
I know there was price increase from manufactures a few months ago and that is what drop our normal costs up.

He was telling me his prices where expected to go up the same way I just haven't had a chance to talk to him since.

These K compound Racetecs are very similar to the Special Compound (Sc) Diablo Supercorsas which cost about 500.00 a set. They don't steer as quick as the michelins, but they stick to the track or the street like glue. The rear will only last about 2400 on the street. Some of the literbikes run a K1 front and a K2 rear. If you're buying track tires for the upcoming PA/TSB trackday, these would be an excellent choice. If you're a michelin man or woman, stick with the michelins

The last set of Racetecs I bought was around 425.00....190/55 120/70. I've had 3 sets for the '06 10R.

I almost forgot. The Racetecs are marginal in the rain.

Mike - no BS. I need tires for the Triumph and that's low enough to warrant trailering the bike up for a day. 120 / 180s and I'll ping you after the 15th.

ok so for a novice to intermediate rider which tire compound would you suggest for jennings on a zx10r. I used the Corsa III last time and very happy with them.

K2 Front and Rear. I think if you were running expert, the K1 would be better for the front. Get a second and third opinion by all means. The Corsa III's do well at Jennings as a trackday tire I agree.

What about the heat cycles. Do these k2's have as many in them as the corsas? Or should i also invest in tire warmers.

Ctate can tell you more about warmers and the Racetechs. I never had a prob with the Racetecs. I never did more than one trackday at a time though. Just take a full lap on them before you start pushing. The Corsa IIIs you can push right away since they are primarily a street tire. The Racetechs are just the opposite. They are primarily a trackday tire that you can run on the street. I suppose if you have access to warmers, that would be better for you.

I like 'em for street tires too. Run the "softs" not the "supersofts." No, they don't last long, but they ARE great tires! I think I can get 3k miles or so out of them if I focus on cornering and not on wheelies / drag starts ;)

It's been a while since I got my last set from him, a long while. LOL. But I got a set of 180's for the 600 and it was $380 mounted if I remember correctly... I bought two sets cause the price was so good and had to borrow money from jackass to get the second set.

but that was track prices on tires he NORMALLY doesn't carry.

for you P.A. to even come close to what Leon sells them for, on a set of 190's too boot is freaking AWESOME.

I would expect P.A. should sell allot of sets at that price....

NO! Corsas are Street tires where Racetecs are Track tires... heat cycles on street tires don't mean as much since they are made for cycling heat. but as track tires if they get TOO hot they will get greasy and slide around.

Racetecs are track tires, heat effects them allot. Not enough heat and they don't grip as much, too much heat makes them greasy as well but to heat them up to greasy levels you would need to run mid to low 20's on a 1000 IMO. but on the street they are OK. I find that they don't hook up as well for me as they do for Pizzaman. on the street they don't get up to operating temps so they slide into turns and then I find they lose traction over bumps... I do have an old set on my bike now from the track and I think after they cycle enough heat they get hard enough to be a passable street tire.

Just be warned as a street tire you will push the front tire when you enter a turn hard with racetecs. so be ready for it or it might spook ya. As a track tire. unless your running 25s 26s or 28s you should have a great time on these tires. IMO

YES Run warmers with racetecs for best results IMO. Not needed though as long as you give them a good solid lap, 1.5 laps the first session and at least 3/4's a lap each session afterward to warm up to operating temps.

but I run the SS Front and the S Rear, period 600 or 1000. I have to look up the pressures in my track book and post them cause they aren't normal. Don't quote me but it's like 31 front and 28 rear or 30 front and 26 rear HOT.

but what Leon told me was put the warmers on 45 mins before your first session, set the pressure HOT. take the bike out for a lap or two, come in and reset the pressure. then you should be good for the day.

Leave the warmers on till the last minute and if you sit for a while waiting on the session to start give them a 1/2 a lap to heat back up.

Seatec hit me up on msn about your tire warmer situation... ;)
