Ok not to be a whiney biotch... well ok to be a whiney biotch...
Last time I checked Pinellas county was part of the Tampa Bay area and I was under the understanding that we were going to sometimes have a meeting over on this side of the woods...but I think the last one that was over here was a month and a half ago... Hey I can even go with just over the other side of the bay but come on guys...
If you are going to have meetings during the week...and most people work during the week... there needs to be some rotation and I don't mean from Valrico to Brandon and vice versa... but hey I am cool with it if hat is what you guys decide to do... just make sure you state that you are only a Tampa community not a Tampa Bay community....
Just my opinion... which I tend to have alot of that I voice often....
Just don't beat me too bad after you read this... don't leave any red marks I still have to go to work since I didn't win the lottery yet...lol

It has been previously posted that if you want a meet in your neck of the woods, then research a location and post up the details. The reason that the meets keep on happening on this side of the bay seems to be because 1) most members are from this side of the water and 2) There are only a few members that seem to set up meets on the open Wednesdays and again they live on this side of the water.

Just to ad something else. When I say post up the details, I mean do it with some conviction. Don't post up "Hey what do you guys think about this place?" or "You want to do a bike night here?". Post up "Next bike night (at this date, this time, and this place)" Take the bull by the horns.

That's what I thought was if you want it in your neck of the woods then you should post it up....
It usually should be up by Monday to allow people time to work out the kinks on if they can make it or not. It's on a rotational basis it's just that initiative to set it up (as Rookie stated) needs to be taken...

I must of missed that post or it was before my time... so no biggie... go where the majority are...
The winghouse thingie is cool for ya'll... I can't comment on that because I will never make the first wednesday of the month any where it is because of my job...
So... anywho.. I guess I will just see ya'll when I see ya'll and be a post whore...lol

Busab.... Also just a few weeks ago we did the hooters on Gandy, that was a round about way of doing pinellas. But to also comment on your questions about actualy meets in pinellas, we have had quite a few, and a lot of the Hillsborough people were complaining that *SOME* not all of the pinellas people would comment about having meets over on their side of their bay, but the same people wouldnt show up when there was a meet over on their side on the bay....
Since there has been so much discussion on the rotating sched, and a set place, what we decided to do is the first of every month, have a set place. Wing House 301. Then the remaining three weeks rotate btwn some of the other locations.
I hope this better explains things :occasion1

To back up Griffen...alot of people rode in the freezing cold to Pinellas where only 4 people from the Pinellas side showed up. It was very discouraging. I feel you though Busa...I have to ride at least a half hour to get to any of the meets. On the flip side if we have meets in Pinellas Brandon people have a long haul and can't make it. Can not please everyone all the time. The best turn outs have been at the Hillsborough Winghouse and the 301 Winghouse.
See you guys Wensday.

I have no problem with all of this... I thought the point which I have read many times before was there was a rotation that doesn't appear to have been happening...
Secondly... there needs to be a sticky note to let new people know that it is first come first serve on the next weeks meets... most people would assume that the moderators and/or admin would be the ones in charge of meets...
Thirdly... My guess is the reason you have more Tampa/Brandon people is you are competing with Quaker Steak and Lube on the same evening and time... So you to ask why would someone want to drive an hour or so to meet up with the group when they can drive 15 or 20 mins to Quaker Steak (which just for a silly idea.. anyone thought of going there one Wednesday and recruit if the idea is to make this a bigger site.. just an idea)...
So the just of my opinion... which may or may not piss people off... is whatever the idea of the Wednesday meets are .. is definately not clear and to avoid further confusion... please clarify so others will not be blasted as I have been in making an observation
Thank you :-)

I dont think we are trying to compete with anyone. we just wanna go hang out with friends and get some food, no compitition anywhere. besides half of us usually head out to quaker later on anyway.

Whatever happend to going for a "ride"???
My "riding" time has to be the weekend... I don't know what some of you do for a living but after working for 8-9 hours and driving a couple hours to and from work... driving an hour to a meet eatting and driving home another hour... is just alittle too much for me...
More power to you if you can... maybe it is my old age showing or different types of work.. who knows...
I am not trying to offend anyone here so please don't take my posts that way...
I want everyone to know... I am ok with however and when ever these meets happen... I was just expressing my observations...
Also I am not saying anyone is trying to compete with Quaker.. but just in the fact of the meetings taking place at the same time..that is inevitable...
so anywho... have fun... sorry to stir the pot...

I'm all for healthy debate
BUT
If you going to try and "biotch" about something it should have validity.
Do you not see a rotation? Here is a list of where we have had the meets going back to Jan. You could see them too by going to the calendar. So as you can see it's in Brandon that is up in the rotation the reason it's there 2 weeks in row is because of the Monthly 301 WH that is not included in the rotation.

The rotation was Brandon, Notrth Tampa, and out that way so it's not 5 in a row and again last week doesn't count becase like the post for that said it's going to be there every month 1st Wed of the month.
Gandy Hooters was considered over that are since it is (as BB said in her post) right next to bridge.
So By following th e rotation it would be out that way next week.
No body will ever be happy with this, It use to bee in place and people b!tched about it getting borring doing the same thing over every week. It started moving and people b1tched that moved to much. Tryied to mix it up with on e standard place and move around the rest of the time. Less then week in to it and people are bitching about that.
This is directed at no one person.
Here is an Idea instead of b1tching about it not not being what you want. Try actually giving ideas on what it is you would like.
What hell is with everyone latey? This whole board needa mental enema. Maybe this we clean all this sh!t out and go back to haveing some fun.

Funny thing is I thought this was a motorcycle forum not a place to check out restraunts...am I wrong? I feel for you Busa but personally I feel the forum should stick to it's roots and be about the bikes, the people, and not about the restraunt.
Jarhead is correct...we hardly miss a meet and always have a distance to ride. But for me I am going to be skipping alot of the places that are not bike friendly. What I mean by that is a place where I have to park my bike in the middle of nowhere and can not see it while I hang out. It would also be nice if we had half as many people show up on a ride as there is on a Wensday night.
I say make it either one place always or at least always make it a biker friendly place. Outdoor seating close to our bikes.
The_Jarhead
04-10-2006, 09:23 PM
Yeah but what is the harm in bike people getting together to BS and talk about bikes AND actually have some good food. I agree that some places are not the best suited for our bikes safety but those are the places that we check off and don't go back to.
I think the way it now is about as closest to a compromise as there can be. One set location at the same time every month and still move around so people can have some verity and maybe not have to travel as far.
I understand what you are saying about people coming out for a ride Randy. It's nice to see group participation but some, myself included do not enjoy riding in big groups and I know other have said the same thing. I think as long as people are out there riding and enjoying the bike in their way it's all good.

I would like to see more steady meets, like 3 of the same places a month and 1 week would be designated for a rotation. We should make the Winghouse on Hillsborough one of them. We always have a great turnout, great parking and we usually get the deck right next to the bikes. Seems like Old Chicago is the same way also.

Ok... I was just making an observation here and I tried to make it lighthearted with a few jokes in there.. however.. I apparently touched a nerve on a few people's hackles...so I will never bring this up again...
I glad there are "few" people that have the freedom, time and energy to make "every" meet that is not supposedly about the restaurant.... but in the real world.. most of us are not that lucky...
As I stated earlier... my understanding of these meets was something totally different 2 days ago as it is now... thank you for clarifying it for me...
I think ya'll should continue the way you have since it is working the core people that "always' make the meets... but again it was my understanding that everyone was interested in making this a bigger group... but I know when I have reached a closed discussion and apparently it is here...
If you ever get a chance to read the rest of my posts and suggestions and feel that they ever have any merit... let me know and I will willing to help....

I don't think it's all that serious. It's just a weird pattern, that you may not know about, has happened at almost every meet. That pattern would be that it seems everytime a meet is set up in Tampa, St. Pete, Clearwater that the people that live there show up ONLY at those places but the Brandon, Valrico, Appllo Beach people ride to meets everywhere. Most of the time the meets are even set up by the people on the Brandon side no matter where it is. I believe Special K and Jarhead are the only non Brandon area folks that have taken the time to prep a Wednesday meet by going to the place and letting the staff know when and what time we will be there, asking if we can park close and things like that. So I believe thats why most of the meets are on the Brandon side because its usally PB who's first to announce where it could be and he usually does the same for over the river and through the woods places. We hardly ever see anyone from Clearwater/St. Pete come to a Brandon meet because they say it's "too far" but it's just the same distance as when we ride to their side, but we don't give that excuse.
Wasn't Me I don't think you will ever get people to come to rides like meets because Jarhead said it best, some people just don't like large groups (myself included), and unless you go you won't know how large the group is. Alot of things come into play like lack of confidence, peer pressure, trust in skills, things like that. Your response will probably be "unless you get out and ride non of these things will change" and your right but some people aren't ready for the change at this time and choose to ride casually. Like to go eat because it's close to their home/work.

I personally thought the meets were for comraderie but that was where I was mistaken....
I ride to ride on the weekend when I have time... but since I know the meets are for the ride.. and food is just an extra luxury... just let this discussion go...
Thank you Slo... that is the part I mentioned earlier that only a select few seemed to know that the meets were up to everyone to choose... which was another one of my misunderstandings... I am just curious... is there ever a conflict of more than one person posting up a Wednesday meet???
But I do sincerely hope this discussion dies soon... I am sorry I ever brought it up.. but maybe there will be some clarity to the newcomers on what the meets are about and how anyone can post up for the next one... so maybe some good will come out of it.

Busa, you are right, the meets are a chance for friends to get together during the week to just hang out for a little bit... To break up the week, and relieve any stress.
Also as for the rides and the meets, any suggestions are welcomed, and if you have one for your side of the bay, please post up, and I am sure everyone would be interested.
Don't be sorry you brought up this questions, cuz I am sure a few others have had the same one, and just didnt want to bring it up.
As for heated discussions, well it seems that lately, just about every discussion has been heated....
Randy, as for this being a bike site, well it is, everyone that is a member has a bike in some for or another..... This is not a racing site, or a track site, but a general motorcycle site for Tampa Bay... It is a place for people to meet new people who share a common interest, BIKES. It is a place to gain information about BIKES. It is a place where someone who just started riding can get great riding tips from our experience riders and find out what is wrong with their bike from someone like you....
Sportbikes are the common thread that binds this site. We want everyone to feel welcomed...
The root of this site is that it is a place for people to meet, socialize, and ride with others in Tampa who own sportbikes.

I agree that there are some who just ride out to eat, but I don't think that is what Slow was saying (it certainly isn't what I was saying).
Some people don’t like big group ride for many reasons. Some just aren’t comfortable on big rides it makes her nervous. Kind of like speaking in front of a large audience. I don’t like big group rides mostly because I don’t like riding with that many people I don’t know and understand their riding style or skill. Wasn’t it just 2 weeks ago that someone from SC was taken out by someone who just showed up because he heard about a big group ride? If I go down because I screwed up, fine my fault. Someone riding above their abilities and running in to my rear tire in a turn isn’t.
Smaller groups of 10 or so people are fine but 20-30 person rides just aren’t my thing. I know other people have told me they don’t ride in big groups for the some of same reasons.
That doesn’t mean they don’t ride.
