when i saw this the other night, personally, i got pissed at their gay segment again and sent them an email asking why " if there's no jobs, and our economy is in the toilet are they blasting some of our most popular restaurants on the news" who gives a shit? we know, i'm sure the place isn't meticulous. leave the inspections up to the health dept. it's their job. If they say they they're good to go, thats good enough for me.... go home channel 11 news, and clean ur own fuckin kitchen. They havent replied yet. :fdup8il:

No need to boycott...just watch what you eat if you decide to eat at all. I still went to Barnacles although the last time I actually ate there my tummy was not very happy about it. LOL :ttytrai

Hey, the roaches were homeless, give 'em a break. LOL
I used to work in a the restaurant business. I've learned there's a certain amt of risk you take any time someone else prepares your food. Ya just gotta keep your eyes open. We've eaten there a few times and never had a problem. Hopefully they take heed to the Health Dept recommendations.

now i wouldn't go that far... i've lived in my house since 2002. i have never seen a roach... an occasional palmetto has flown in over the years.... but kitchen roaches... no never. My techniques, dont leave food sittin around or dirty dishes in the sink. no crumbs, keep the floor clean... roaches like filth plain and simple.

understood.....but what i'm sayin is, if ur clean and never see them.... chances are they AREN'T around.
cool.... the Quaker thread is now the roach thread...lol
But... i also understand if someone lives in an apartment... it's probably tougher cause u may have a nasty neighbor in the same building vs a single family structure.

This point is SO TRUE! When we lived in our apt, it was so difficult to get rid of small roaches & we were meticulously clean. It drove us both crazy! We were on the 2nd floor.

dont forget the "beautiful" landscaping around the complex. We have anoles, rabbits, snakes, roaches, birds, and god knows what else living around ours.

Yeah...I'm thinking some fat azzed reporter walked in their and said Hi.....I'm a douchebag from a news agency.......and because his azz wasn't kissed he desided to write this story.
.........any kitchen can show a violation if you look hard enought.......it's freaking florida, the bug population thrives here due to warm temps and never a freeze. If a bug can walk/fly 100 yards, then it can show up on your property.

no lol. But I dont complain too much. The snakes are usually just black racers so I dont mind them. I dont care for the critters with over 4 legs though :lurking:
Wow, that's a lot roaches in a soap dispenser!

I think they have that old industrial style washtub.....it could weigh as much as 2000 pounds if I'm right. It should be clean, but I'm sure it's easy to overlook.

Dude if you believe your stuff at home is clean and safe you are mistaken....Roaches are everywhere...
no roaches at my house
Our cleaning crew that cleans up our gas station comes to our house every week and wipe down and clean up/sanitize every inch of our house throughout the whole week. Even when it looks clean, they still sanitize and clean the whole area.
So yeah, my home is clean and safe.

It is nasty, we live in florida. Bugs will get in to everything.

cats, armadillos, possums, racoons, and peeping Toms.
we live in florida, roaches are inevitable
If I were to ever walk into any kitchen @ any restaurant and I guarantee i'll walk out the door because either A) I'll be disgusted beyond belief by the 'violations' you can spot within seconds or because B) I saw their photo flash on the news last week for being arrested and released on bond until their trial

I don't think the roaches will bother me, like everyone have said, it's hard to avoid having roaches. What bugs me (haha, get it....bugs me) is the fact that chicken was left on the floor, bare hands being used, and whatever else they said that had something to directly affect the food.
With the amount of grease, smoke, etc, I think it's pretty damn hard to avoid any type of insects, but it is NOT acceptable to leave perishable food sitting around. There really just isn't any excuses for that, something that can be avoided so easily.
I have eaten at Quaker, the food was good, didn't have any complaints.

11-11-2008, 01:52 PM
O, one more thing. For those that can't over look roaches, you guys must NOT like those Mom and Pap places. Those, a good majority of the time, are the dirtiest places you can think about eating at, but they also have some of the GREATEST food!

I use a thing called deamon. You can get it at a professional pesticide shop only, I have been useing it for 7 years and have see dead bugs only. This stuff kills everything, oh even cats so if you have a cat do not buy it. But it is fine with kids and birds and dogs and I have a lizzard.

Who cares? You mean you would actually eat there?!
Kind of hard to fuck up a bottle of beer in regards to a health inspection.
I'd feel safer eating a burger from McD's.

He is on cowhead also
Kind of an economy size bag of douche really
Not to be anal but I actually carry handsanitizer just bc I have seen ppl use the public rest room shake it off and splash some water on their hands and csll it a day and then they meet u later on and want to shake ur hand u don't know how many times I had to find a way to keep my hands busy to avoid an unwanted handshake from some1 who didn't wash their hands properly.
