Well I was in need of a new pair of Gloves. So I headed down to Ride Now in Clearwater and picked up a set of street riding gloves.

What : APS - SPS Street Performance Glove

Cost : 69.95

Where : Ride Now Clwtr

Comfort & Thoughts - Now these Gloves must have been designed by a woman. Because the Large that i normaly get is extremely tight. Now I do like tighter fitting gloves but i prefer some wiggle room in certian areas. When i tried them on at the store they were tight but had such a nice outter feel from the double layered leather padding. I also liked the look of the glove. Nice white stitching against the black leather with a decent carbon fiber look. Also I liked the kevlar palm padding and in the knuckles. I decided to go with the Large instead of the extra large. Thinking they will stretch i wanted to see how they would work out. So far i have used them on a 30 min ride. When i first got on the bike i reached out for the levers and instantly felt the tight stitching in between my finger. I do hope they break in quick. I would ride more today i just have to be at a toddlers bday party with the wife and kids. I will update this thread this week as they break in.

Dude those Gloves SUCK IMO...

I hope you like them better than I did.
I wore my fore finger out in less than a month.
I use my pointer finger to break and it wore a hole in there in no time.

Right now I'm rock'n these on the street for daily riding.

oh man! not good news to hear. I hope i dont have that problem. Now you have me thinking about trading them in tomorrow for the XL. I do not want to poke a hole through the end. I have been stretching out the gloves to try to get more finger room. I think these might be labeled wrong. They are probably mediums. They fit like latex. lol

Well trade them out for better fitting ones would be the best start...

Good Luck.

i ve had the same gloves for over a year no prob even after some drying out after wet weather, only a bit of the stitching came out on an extra flap on the top. Never had a problem like I said but that whole break in thing is old news dont get sold by the snake oil salesmans that tells you that things will break in (they dont break in that much as mfg make things with as lil extra material as possible) same with a helmets if you get a head ache in the store you will get a headache on the road.

these are great gloves in my opinion just dont follow the old grandma tale that it will break in, you know what they say about a man with big hands? they need big gloves :)

ps loose stitching is right on the ring finger where the flap over the first joint of the finger, and only one on glove

Oh I hear ya. Yea I have gone down in a pair of similar gloves. still got all my fingers. But I look at it this way. When I do go down, last thing I am going to do is put my hand out to break my fall. so it's hit or miss. if your going to break your hand, I don't think there is a pair of "real" gloves made that will prevent that...

Might help if you were sliding a long way. rinky dink gloves would melt off. but eventually so will Real Gloves...

Those SMX-3 gloves SUCK. Went through them pretty fast, no hard protection...very thin (leather area is more like thin suede) and the rest of the glove is nothing nylon material.

I don't know about the rest of you but other than my head the other area I don't want to jack up is my hand and fingers. Believe me I know...there was a time when I had about 10% ability with my left hand. I can make due and recover from a broken collarbone, rib, leg, arm or e'hem sternum, but if you suffer permanent damage to your hands and fingers you will be very limited in what you can do in life. I had three surgeries on my left hand and am at 90% capability (best I'm ever gonna get).

Why invest in a solid helmet and jacket and leave critical areas like your hand/fingers/ankles/feet exposed to serious damage?

In any crash you'll eventually slow down or roll to another part of your body,so as to spread out the rash/damage. The thing with your hands/feet are theres no skin to accept the road rash like say for example your ass. You could slide for much longer on your butt before you hit bone. On the other hand(hehe) your feet and hands take all of about 5ft to slide and then your into bone.

I'v been through bone graphs and can say you'll never experience pain like that! Ctate you'll save alot more wearing the better gloves period. Street or track so give up the Rinky dinks, please;]

Great point. What happened to your hand? I am returning these gloves tonight. I tried them for a couple of days. They are to tight to be comfortable. I will try the XL size. I like the kevlar protection. I do not think the SMx-3 would be for me, i would like a pair with hard protection.

Those great points were picked up when getting injured riding motorcycles at age 11...so I learned early how important ALL gear is. I wear XXL or XXXL gloves and they seem tight when new but they will break in with some good sweat and/or water. And most gloves are preformed for the throttle meaning when you straighten out your fingers it makes them fit tighter/shorter so don't judge them with your hand open and fingers extended. Don't forget to throw some Lenox leather conditioner on every once in a while as well.

Oh, I had and injured hand and ended up getting infected (staff) when I was 8, had last surgery at age 14. No problems just not quite the strength of my right hand. But there were times I couldn't come close to making a fist with my left hand. Trust me, fully protect your wrists, hands, fingers, ankles, feet and toes. Go with gauntlets and dedicated quality motorcycle boots. If you go down without them there's a good chance you'll wish you had them.
