We took a short trip today and visited the Fuel Cafe (http://www.fuelsrq.com/) in Sarasota. It is relatively easy to find off off of 41 just north of Bee Ridge road (though parking is tight once you get there).
It is a small place with what looks to be a simple kitchen and espresso bar. The scenery is just too cool, from the unique bikes parked out front, to the decorations inside. Great posters, fantastic art and pictures of the owner standing next to guys with names like Schwantz and Capirossi. He even has a photograph of Matt Mladin smiling! Even the bathroom comes with a copy of "Road Racer X" so that you can spend your contemplative time pondering over the latest racing and sportbike details in print.

The owner is a really cool guy, he sat and talked with us. The picture you see here is him with a shot from his trip to Jennings in the background. Yes, that's the owner, yes he's dragging a knee on bike "111".

The food was just fantastic! This guy must be a chef / motorcyclist / entrepreneur . . because this food is way beyond expectations for such a small kitchen:

The coffee alone was worth the trip (check out the CUP!!)

And it was cheap too! Sandwich, coffee, soda, chocolate brownie . . all total I think it came to $12!
Last note: Fuel Cafe hosts MotoGP - and not the "Speed Channel" MotoGP either. The owner has it set up to see All the qualifying, ALL the interviews, All of the races. If possible, he can even do it live the day of.
So, check them out - the next time you are out riding near Sarasota you should INSIST on making it a pitstop.

Hey PoppaNoDoz, that was the place I mention awhile back when I rode w/ you, Lou & crew from St.Pete. But it was a good distance to ride out there for those guys at the time. :D
A few of us here go there on Tuesday for their bike nite. A good mix of bikes show up as well w/ free wings :D The 1st time I attended a meet, I was able to see to witness more than 4 Duc's in one parking at a time! lol
Dex, the owner, good guy to talk to and just chill there for a snack! Nice place to go refresh after a small SE run.
Notice the 1st pic is Roger chillin, lol

He even lent me some tools to fix my sticking throttle. Not kidding, a love bug jammed itself all the way up into the cables and it made my throttle stick.

Fuel is a ton of fun. Or at least a fun place to stop. Have ate there - watched the TV (faster) played pool (has a cool flip table). Its got a small and to the point menu (the one with pineapple on it is great). A coffee shop. And a love of motorcycleing.

I'm pretty easy to figure out - if someone is a fanatic about motorcycling they are my kind of people. It can be Harleys, Gixxers, Vespas, whatever.
What other kind of person is there? ;)

Hey Papa, thanks for the post on this place, I never would have known about it. My babe and I went there today after a day at the beach at Longboat Key. Very, very cool little chill out spot. Great wines and sandwiches, big screen TV showing MotoGP, stacks of 'Roadracing World' magazines, and a lot of cool decorations inside of the place. If you're in the area it's a great place to stop.

Good write up PoppaNodoz! That's me in the first picture. I remember seeing you guys there, didn't know you were on TSB also. Maybe see you guys there again.
Fuel is the shizzy!! Great place to hang out!!
wow I didn't realize it had been THAT long since Poppanodoz posted this...
but we FINALLY went down to Fuel Cafe this past weekend with a few TSB Members!
Bigguy and I rode down there, taking some back roads we mapped out on google earth and ended up there 85 miles later :D (if we went straight down 75 it would've been just shy of 60 miles from brandon).
Anyways, we met up with a few people, had some lunch (which was awesome by the way) and had a few laughs! The staff/owner are VERY friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome! And I believe the amount of food you get for the price was WELL worth it. I'm a picky eater but was able to find something that I could eat (The Laguna Seca).
sooooo...........
if you haven't yet,
take a ride down there and check it out!
