I wonder why that bike looks so familiar? Its STUPID fast and the suspension was worked. Its set for a heavy rider (me) so you may wanna lighten it up. It has Pro Action suspension, had FMF Fatty gold and Power core II Silencer, among a ton of other mods...It would roll on in any gear with me on it!

Well you will have to take it to someone who knows how to set it up. I beleive they added heavier springs and different dampeners for my weight (270lbs) itll ride ok for you but may be a bit stiff on the landings and the suspension may not be as responsive in turns. I'm sure someone on here knows how. Randy (wasntme) is pretty good at it!

he sais the bottom end is good. but when i picked it up he told me that he put some regular motor oil ontop of the bottom end to lube it up some. so not sure of its condition or what got in it.

tear it down.. just have the crank sticking out of the bottom end.. check and see how much side to side play the crank has..
a piston, rings and wrist pin are cheap for 2 strokes..
Reckless01
03-29-2008, 10:37 AM
he put oil on top of the crank assy and bearings to keep it from rusting. I do it whenever I leave the top off of the bike for more than a day. You can always drain it out but its cheaper than buying a new bottom end!
RickyNo
03-29-2008, 12:05 PM
im not gonna buy a new bottom end but i am going to have it inspected before i put the new top end on. last thing i want is for something to go wrong down low and **** the top end up that i just replaced.

Its a place out in the boon docks where the property is owned by Alto Construction and the guys keep a full moto course maintained. It is by the strictest invite only as trespassing on construction property is felony! But the bowl I was going into was redone earlier that day by a guy with a HUGE bulldozer!! They also have a dirt track for drifting the quads and stuff. You can see it in the background as soon as the vid starts its red clay and oval!

Here U are Ricksta
This 1 way u can do the Job!
Here is a definitive guide on how to polish any aluminum surface to a mirror shine.
Items Needed:
Oven Cleaner
200, 400, 600, 1000 and 2000 Grit Wet/Dry Sandpaper
Polishing Cream
Wax
Clear Coat (Optional)
Step 1:
Clean the dirt off your part.
Step 2:
Spray your part with oven cleaner to strip the corrosion off. (I use Easy Off)
Step 3:
Begin sanding with the 200 grit sandpaper across the grain. Do so until the grain is almost gone. (Make sure to keep the sandpaper wet). There will be a considerable amount of black stuff, this is oxidized aluminum.
Step 4:
Take the 400 grit and sand in the same direction until the grain is all gone.
(Still keeping it wet).
Step 5:
Take the 600 grit and sand this time in a swirling pattern until all you see is swirls.
(Still wet)
Step 6:
Repeat step 5 but with the rest of the sand paper, using a higher grit each time.
Step 7:
By now your part will have a very shiny finish and you may be satisfied, but now take your polishing cream and buff your part until it is mirror shiny.
Step 8:
Wax your part just like you would a car.
Step 9 (Optional):
Apply a spray on clear coat to your part to help protect it.
To restore your shine:
Simply start at step 1 & 2 but then skip to step 7.
Watch as people stare at themselves in your shiny parts.

Places like Auto Zone/Advance Auto Pats etc. have finer sandpaper/kits for bodywork.
Bought a 3M assorted sandpaper set with 220 / 400 / 800 / 1000 / 2000 there.
I'd just use some plastic cleaner on the tank and not paint it just yet. If I wanted to paint it I'd just do a test area under the tank in an area not visible with the tank in it's normal position. Keep an eye on the paint and see if the paint starts to blister due to the lack of air ventilation and the gases from the fuel slowly passing through the tank. This is the reason many decals don't last on tanks, ventilation problems because neither the decals or paint can breath properly. I bought an old bike that the tank was painted and it lasted about six months at most. Looked like someone was sunburned and blistering badly.
There's also a product called Plastic Renew. I used that on my sons KTM 65 before we sold it. I followed the instructions to the letter and it looked really good. Problem is, it's a dirt bike and the new surface can scratch up pretty easy and look like something out of one of those 1960's zombie movies or the Michael Jackson's 1980's Thriller video. On a street bike it might be okay. If I had to do it again and was gong to keep the bike, I'd spend the money on new plastics if I was that picky.

well the motor is out. got everything stripped for tomorro. going to spray oven cleaner on it to get all the crud off and then she'll be ready for the polishing. im gonna have to find an auto body shop that has the sand paper because i went to autozone and they dont have it. i'll try discount but prolly wont have any luck because lowes nor home depot has anything higher then 220.
going to get the bottom end checked out as well. it should be fine. my moms x is head mechanic down at fletchers. he told me i dont need to take it apart to check the bottom end you just have to wiggle the rod around a certain way and if it goes the wrong way then your spendin big bucks! so gonna have him look at it.

luckily this bike isnt like my older one. the gas tank is covered by other plastics. so basically the only thing that shows is the top. i tried to paint my old one and it had a paint thinner effect to it after awhile. :(
im going to be pickin up a set of ufo plastics and a full fmf fatty exhaust in platinum. this bike is gonna be sweet!

Ricksta...pulled this from another site.
Seems to be a pain in the butt....But, they Say it works!
Ok this is what you need.
A large enough container plastic, metal, what ever to hold the gas tank in an UPRIGHT POSITION and not on it's side, this is important. So go to wallmart, home depot where ever, the tighter fit width wise the better. The container must be able to hold mass amounts of boiled water. Think of its size to your tank. The closer in size the container is more concentrated your dye will be due to needing less water to fill it over the tank. I used a plastic garbage bin. Cost 14 bucks.
12+ boxes of Rit dye. The ratio on the box is 500ml per box. It does not have to be that concentrated IMO. Cost 1.77 per box @ Wallmart.
Rubber gloves/dish gloves.
As many pots and kettles you can heat water in.
Garbage bag.
Optional expansion support. Meaning when you fill a large plastic container the heat makes it flex out ward. So I put heavy stuff around it to stop some of the flexing.
Vinegar
Salt.
Dye mixing container.
The process:
1. Empty the gas tank. Rinse it once. Leave over night with gas cap off. 1 day is more than enough.
2. Clean tank with dish soap or car wash soap, I also used some simple green on it before the soap.
3. Optional. Don't sand the tank, it will show small abrasions, use a heat gun to restore some of the minor scratching. You can tell as it goes a shade darker when doing it. Thanks "RCannon", this actually made a difference in the dye process, the tank looked much better after this.
4.Start boiling water and use salt in the water, you don't need a burner or a pot to keep the tank in to boil. It's unnecessary. I used two pots and a kettle and made several fill trips to the garage.
5. Put the tank in your sink. Fill the tank with boiling water all the way to the top and put the cap on.Plug the vent hole. I used a small piece of clay bar.
Note: One thing to remember is especially when the tank is hot, it will scratch really easy be mindful of that when working with it.
6. Fill the sink up with the taps hottest water and let the tank sit in there till you get your tank bucket filled.
7. Fill the bucket with the boiled water, a cup of vinegar and 2 table spoons of salt, fill the water enough to cover the whole tank if it was submerged, BUT without having the tank in it, just guess. Use the lid of the bucket and a garbage bag to seal the heat in between fills. The garbage bag makes a difference to keep the heat in.
8. Mix dye in a separate container with boiling water.
9. Add dye to water in bucket, mix with a stick.
10. Empty all of the water in the gas tank.
11. Put the tank in the bucket with the gas cap off let the dye mix fill the inside of the tank all the way to the top, you dont want any air in the tank to cause it to float if possible, then screw the cap back on. the water level should be above the tank by a little. Yes inside the tank! Let the color penetrate from both sides. I see no issue with this what so ever. Even if the gas removes the dye on the inside over time, who cares. Understanding combustion this not effect the engine what so ever.
Note: If your tank keeps floating, take a ziplock freezer bag with tap hot water fill it and leave an air pocket and let the bag keep the gas tank under water.
12. Then put the lid on with the garbage bag and come back to it in 24 hours or more. You will likely be surprised but the water will still be warm after the 24 hours, my garage has heated floors mind you.
13. Next day it will be black, if not quite black enough leave in for another 24 hours! Sweet!
14. When done rinse it with water and wipe it down a couple times. It will have some dye residue on it. Make sure you wipe it down with items that are not abrasive.
15. For final fit an finish you could buff it to make it shine. I used a small amount of liquid Meguiars wax. For products I would be careful not to use anything that will prevent graphics sticking to it. After graphics I would spray it with rain ex/rain guard or something that give it a little protection.
My dye setup.

so im ordering the full top and bottom end kit from motosport.com
i get a wiseco piston and a hot rod crank, includes all gaskets, seals, and bearings. once that is in i'll have the jug sent out to get plated. am i missing anything here?

thats the rule of thumb with any used vehicle...make sure you have at least 500.00 set aside for repairs...
I'm confused about the head needing to be re-plated. A normal cylinder head can be cleaned up with steel wool and will come out really clean and shiney with some elbow grease. You don't plate the head. The piston slides up and down within the sleeve, not the head. The head covers the combustion area with the spark plug in it. You must be talking about the cylinder itself that contains the sleeve.
If you plate anything it would be the cylinder sleeve but only if the original sleeve was the previous plated kind. New sleeves from Wiesco are non plated and can be re-bored a number of times. With plated sleeves you replace the piston and rings and then later re-plate the cylinder sleeve again every once in a while. Plated sleeves were popular starting in 99, one year after your motor was built.
A Cylmer book will tell you all you need for reference information and stock settings.
