I wasn't on it. I'm pissed, but fine. I spent the day changing the oil, washing, waxing and detailing the bike. Pleased with the results of my labor I head out to the beach to hang out and people watch. I get a parking spot in front of McDonald's and see a couple of friends parked one spot up, a van is between us. We're chatting away by their bikes, and a woman hops in the van to leave. I say jokingly to my friends, "Watch she's going to back into my bike." No sooner had I said it, she throws the car in reverse, and plows into my bike. She had 8 feet in front of her to get out and backs up another 8. Problem was my bike was 5 feet from her car. I watched it happen, not in slow motion or anything, just *BUMP* *CRASH* and I see my helmet rolling by. The bike fell on the left side, bent the clutch lever, rear brake lever from her bumper, scratched the right lower fairing, tail, nose, mirror, and to top it all off, the bracket from my no cut frame slider crushed the thermostat housing and sprayed coolant everywhere. I think the engine has to be dropped to get to a screw on there. The bike has to be towed. I call Honda Riders Association they are going to send a tow truck to tow the bike to the dealer. I call the dealer to ask what time they close, they say 5, I look at the time and it's 5:02. The bike has to be towed to my storage then towed to Powersports on monday or tuesday since they're closed on sunday. I have no car, the insurance will give me a rental but it's Enterprise and they close at 12 on saturday and are aren't open on sunday.
My weekend is pretty much over. I bought some coke to go with the rum in the freezer. I plan on getting drunk and jumping in the pool. Oh, yeah, I also had a date tonight. We were going to go for a ride. :banghead:
Enjoy your saturday, I know I did for a little bit.
I'll take pictures tomorrow and post them up.

Insurance - sorry or not sorry, irrelevant. Get an adjuster out immediately, frankly go straight for the throat, it's the only way people learn.

Dude I agree with everyone here, First and foremost, you werent on the bike which is a plus. Second, I hope you got her insurance info, and go straight for the FNG throat... If it were me, I would have call the cops, had a report made out and then hit her Insurance Co, to cover everything, even your cost of a rental...... It is the only way people will learn.

It is the only way people will learn.

I doubt it - do they ever learn??? its always the bikers fault - even though she was probably on her cell phone, eating a cheeseburger, smoking a cig., trying to turn the radio on, and backing up at the same time -

OK, I got a police report made with her information. She called some guy and he drove down to the beach. I guess he was the owner of the van. He called the insurance company to put in the claim and walked over to give me the number of his insurance, and the policy number with the case number. He was real apologetic and professional. So I called the insurance company and talked with them for a bit and set up a rental car for monday.

Sorry to hear about that bro. If you really need a car today the Enterprize at the airport should be open on Sunday. If you can get a ride there and have the insurance conpany set it up.

i know the feeling also. i was teaching karate and watched 1 of the mom's back her new lexus suv into my bike and then push it up to the curb stop. fortunate for me it kinda strightened out and she rolled straddle over it not on it. called cahills got an est. over the phone and she wrote a $$2700.00 check on the spot. modt car drivers always say," i didn't see you" as if that makes it ok.

That sux...looks like the slider did it's job pretty well, as far as cosmetic damage, until it gave and cracked the thermostat housing. That's probably the worst part of it. Good thing you weren't on it. Also a plus, she had insurance that should take care of EVERYTHING+! It's just the hassle... Good luck!

Maybe I can get the dealer to fix the housing and have the insurance cut me a check for that. Then give me the money for the plastics using the price of the plastic from the dealer...hmmm....

I would have the dealer replace and fix everything and go with all factory honda parts, and have her pay for the damages. Also be careful of the coolant fluid on the bike, I think it strips paint. Not 100% sure though.

Holy crap monkey, that blows big donkey sack, dude.

My family rides and my mom has a Honda ST 1100, which she rides to work almost everyday. One day she was working and some dumb broad in a minivan backs up like 30 feet, not even paying any attentnion and backs right into it.
She pushes three feet backward in its parking spot, bent the forks and the sidestand. The front fender, reflectors, brake calipers, lines, and fairing were all scratched or damaged.

Luckily, though, the whole incident was captured on surveillance tape that the company uses to safeguard their facility. Unfortunately, she had to take the f*ers to court to get them to finally pay. People just don't give a shit about anything but themselves lately.

Sorry about your luck, I know it will work out in the end.

BWAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA...that's f :censored: d up...I can imagine your dogs are very disciplined.

I got mad for a while then starting calming down. She was apologetic the whole time and she spoke engrish poorly. She had her hot asian daughter translating. I spent some time oogling her daughters goods. I have a friend that works at the dealer that I'm taking the bike to. I might make out ok in the end.

Well, I got a call from my buddy at the dealer. He said that only one piece of plastic didn't need to be replaced on the bike. Lower left fairing. Total cost for parts alone $2587. Helmet, visor, turn signals, I think are seperate. I'll post up more info tomorrow. :bomb:
