We are doing some remodeling on our home right now and part of it involves refinishing a piece of furniture. Now I know this should not be a very difficult thing to do but I have found that while I am very handy and can build a lot of stuff including furniture, I suck at refinishing stuff.

So did there any one out there who has some talent in this area and would like to help me out (for a small fee), or know of a good place that will do it?

Hmmm. Well a year ago, I took my coffee table and stripped the White wash off of it , then stained it. It is now a nice dark brown wood.

What are you trying to refinish??

It’s a set of chairs for my game room. Billiards chairs. For some reason stripping it down is kicking my ass. I can build all kinds of stuff and but I don’t have the patience to sit and let it do it’s job, or I start doing something else and it dries back up again.

There used to be a place in New Port Richey called "The Strip Joint". They do furniture refinishing and are very good at it.

Are the chairs painted and if so what type of paint (latex, lead, epoxy)? What are you trying to strip off of them?

no paint, kind of a white wash stain and finish. I've read how to's on it, but for some reason the doing is not working out for me to well. I'll try and find that post SD and see if it sheds more light on the issue.
