i want to get a rear brake lever soon because i keep fighting this urge to stand on both back pegs. i dont want to do it unless i have some sort of protection there because i know im gonna wanna go 12 :)
so how do i go about getting one? and how hard to install?

have you got the rear brake control down pat yet with your foot? I recommend getting that 1st..Then worry about a handbrake. If you cant properly operate the rear brake at all I'd learn it 1st. Maybe I'm wrong but thats what I'd suggest. just my .02:occasion1
Its not too hard to put one on but the operation is a lil different. I dunno if you have ever mousetrapped a highway wheelie before but I'd suggest learning the rear brake carefully and not in a panic situation.

gp tech handbrake fitting which comes with the steel braided line (not thumbrake cuz its for racing and it doesnt have enough pull) cbr 1000rr front brake master cylinder (to use for the handbrake master) or a brembo handbrake master. high temp dot 4 brake fluid, and ebc HH rear pads.

call frank or kalon at Pure Acceleration. They can get you prices on everything. full throttle inc also makes a handbrake fitting that works just as well as the gp tech.

im gonna get the thumb break, I love watching you guys stunt, and I would like to learn wheelies, I dont think I have the sack to ride them out on balance like you Matt! I like the rear break for the track.
Odogg...save your money on the thumb break. IF you are not using it for stunting it is not going to help you and could very well hurt you on the track. Very few pro racers use the thumb brake.
Have you guys ever tried using a hydraulic clutch lever for a hand brake?

This guy sells a setup that allows you to keep the pedal. Has some install info too.

Ricksta maybe get on a quad and get used to the feeling of passing the BP and feathering the brake, then itll be more familiar when on the R1:sinister:

it took a lot of getting used to and a lot of practice to get a good wheelie going on this r1.
i struggled for months scratching my head on why i kept veering to the right. answer was i didnt have my weight proportioned right on the back peg so end result too much weight on the right peg and well to the right i went.
then throttle control keeping it flowing easy at bp without teeter totting. finally got that down tonight. i need a whole lot of throttle coming up so i dont gain any speed. so im pretty much at bp when i come up then i throttle it up another 6 inches and im where i want to be. going fast is lame. theres nothing i like more then to be doing a wheelie side by side to another car and thier just sittin there gawking at me in "aw". i dunno i get a kick out of that. keepinnnnnnnn it steadyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

yeah its really cool once you learn the balance part of things. Especially when you really get it down, slow wheelies are just way too much fun, you dont have to be anyone special to be able to do this, you just need the right mindset and you have to practice nonstop. Im not some olympic athelete or anything like that... im the determined fat kid who somehow can manage to wrap his leg over his arm in a circle, or clear the bars.
practice. its worth it in the end.
