The Ocala National Forest is an excellent place to ride ATVs. Only certain areas of the park allow ATV riding. The Big Scrub Campground is the most popular. The Ocala National Forest is located about 20 miles east of Ocala. There is a $6 parking fee per day (camping or day use).

Directions to Big Scrub from I-75: Take I-75 to SWCR484 Belleview exit. Travle east on SWCR484 to Hwy 301 and take Hwy 27 south. Travel south on Hwy 27 until you get to Hwy 42. Travel east on Hwy 42 until you see a small sign for 588 (588 is a dirt road.) Turn left and take 588 east. It will curve north after a few miles and you will see the campground on the left. You can't miss it!

Size: Big (It would take many days to see it all)
Skill Level: All Types
Hours: Open Until Dusk
Fees: $6 Parking Fee Per Day (camping or day use)
Vehicle Types: ATVs (3 or 4 wheeled) and Motorcycles.
Camping? Yes - Primitve w/central restrooms. No showers, no water at camp sites.
Rating: Riding ***** (5 out of 5) / Camping Facilities ** (2 out of 5)
Pros: Very large park with many places to ride for beginners to experts. Bring a GPS! Large camping area. Riding in such open spaces is very nice. Cheap.
Cons: There are lots of whoops, but just as many flat trails too! Camping very primitive. Campground is wide open with no shade.
Special Notes: No riding in restricted pits or wetlands. No riding on numbered roads. Rangers do enforce these rules and citations are given to violators. Help keep this riding area open by following these rules.
