I wouldn't recommend this if it weren't actually useful... I set up my daily commute route on traffic.com, because it purports to be able to predict your driving time. I plugged in my route; from Clearwater across the causeway to I-275N to I-4E to I-75S into Riverview... then put in my phone number & a couple of notification options. Every day at 4:45pm I get a text with a "JAM Factor" from 0 - 10. It's been pretty accurate over the past couple of months. Anything under 3 & the traffic's not bad. 3-6 it sucks, and anything over 6 = parking lot. It's useful if you've got a long commute like myself...
The stuff they come up with now a days.
I go from tampa to lakeland so I'm going the opposite way of traffic both ways. You seem to just go through traffic all the time.
Still I'm going to try it out.
Thanks

My wife used to have that drive, she didn't mind it. Lotsa 'tards on I-4 though. You can ALSO set it to alert you if there's a "minor" or "major" accident along your route so you can plan around it. I always get a text at 4:45pm, but if something bad happens between 4-6:30 they'll send me an update.

Nope. It's ad-supported... so the text messages are something like,
BUY A LAND ROVER!!
The jam factor for "drive home" is 3.4
There are 2 incidents, 0 major.
As long as you aren't charged for text messages, you're good to go.

My only worry is that they have my number and now I will get call from everyone selling me something.

2 months & no calls to me, yet. I HATE telemarketing calls, but I PARTICULARLY HATE telemarketing calls that I have to pay for... but, no, I've been lucky so far.

Glad you like it! Like I said, I wouldn't even mention it if it weren't spot-on... every night, I can be pretty certain if the traffic's going to be light or heavy.
